Halted at Hopwas

After a long day yesterday we decided on a short day today, we just cruised for a couple of hours down to Hopwas. Now I hadn’t heard of Hopwas before yesterday when a fellow boater recommended it as a mooring for last night, given that we were at Fradley Middle Lock his estimate of about 1½ hours to get there was a bit awry! Canalplan AC online planner gives 3½ hours which is more  like the truth but his recommendation of the-tame-otter-783219871[1]The Tame Otter (Tame as in the river, not domesticated I think) was spot on with a lunchtime pint of Marstons Pedigree and a Parsnip & Aubergine Curry for me & a J2O and a Warm Black Pudding, Bacon & Mushroom Salad for Joy.

The rest of the day was spent with chores, washing, letter writing, cat chasing (Joy was trying to take her for a walk on a lead… don’t ask!!!) backing up the photos on the laptop and trying out the central heating as it decided to pour with rain, not a day for boating anyway. Lets hope for better weather tomorrow.
